The Federal Arbitration Act, 9 U.S.C. §§ 1–16, governs the enforcement of arbitration agreements. The Arbitration Dispute Resolution Act , 28 U.S.C. §§ 651 - 658, requires all federal trial courts to implement ADR programs & authorizes participation in these programs. The corresponding volumes of The United States Code for the above statutes are v.28 for the Alternative Dispute Resolution Act and v. 9 for the Federal Arbitration Act . The Texas General Arbitration Act governs the enforcement of pre-existing contract agreements in which both parties have agreed to settle a dispute with binding arbitration in Texas. The Alternative Dispute Resolution Procedures Act lists the requirements for ADR practice in Texas including the five ADR methods for the voluntary non-binding settlement of a dispute.
