Researching the law of foreign jurisdictions can be challenging because you must have an idea of how a country's legal system works before you can discover what kind of resources hold the information you seek. Additionally, legal resources from other countries often lack the traditional finding tools that U.S. legal researchers have relied on for over a century. The researcher may be disappointed to know that some of finding tools we rely on most, such as Westlaw's Digest and Key Number System and Shepard's Citations Service, were uniquely developed to navigate the laws of the United States.
