Citation Management Services consist of software applications that help researchers ...
Listed below are some of the more popular citation management services:
Zotero is a free, open-source program that can be downloaded as a browser extension for Firefox, Chrome, and Safari and as a standalone program that works with Windows, Mac, or Linux systems. You can also download an extension for Microsoft Word that will allow you to drag records in Zotero into your Word document to instantly create citations in formats like MLA and APA.
Juris-M is a free, open-source offshoot of Zotero that is aimed specifically at legal researchers. In fact, its interface is much more conducive for formatting legal citations than even Zotero. Further, the Juris-M interface is so similar to Zotero that most, if not all, of the user-support available for Zotero is also applicable to Juris-M.
Georgetown Law Library has created a set of three very useful training videos covering Juris-M:
In addition, the Harvard Law Library also has prepared a detailed guide to using Juris-M.
EndNote is another citation management application that will help you organize your references during the research process. Texas A&M University provides access to EndNote free of cost to faculty, staff, and students (including RAs) through a site-wide license available from the TAMU software store. You will have to sign in using your UIN and password to access the software store.
Further, TAMU University Libraries has an extensive guide on the use of EndNote. Additional training videos and resources on using EndNote are available from Clarivate.
Mendeley is a "free reference manager and academic social network that can help you organize your research, collaborate with others online, and discover the latest research. Automatically generate bibliographies, collaborate easily with other researchers online, easily import papers from other research software, find relevant papers based on what you’re reading, access your papers from anywhere online, read papers on the go..." and more.
