Library Tip of Week: Searching the Library Catalog for eBooks

by Lisa Goodman on 2020-10-29T11:40:20-05:00 | 0 Comments

As a student of Texas A&M University School of Law, you have access to resources collected by the Law Library as well as the University Libraries, located on the main campus in College Station. With many students participating remotely this semester it is important to know that digital materials, such as eBooks, are available instantly from both!

Start by going to the Dee J. Kelly Law Library’s home page.

You have the option to search either the Law Library’s catalog…

… or the College Station Libraries Catalog.

After you conduct a search, you will see the results screen. Scroll down until you see “Format” to the left of the search results.

Select eBooks as the format. If you do not see an option for eBooks, select “Show More,” then select eBooks from the list of format options and click “Update.”

Now your search results show eBooks with options to instantly view the content in the format of your choice.

Remember that the Law Library has access to eBooks through West Academic Study Aids and LexisNexis Digital Library. These eBooks are categorized under “electronic resources” in the format tab of the catalog and may be excluded from your search results if you narrow by the “eBook” category.

*Note: In addition to eBooks, law students also have access to main campus digital resources (which can be accessed here). Just click on the resource, like databases, and use your TAMU credentials to gain access.

Happy reading!
